Work with a story attached.

The gallery is arranged by way of seeing. This is arranged by intent: bodies of work made over time, with a place, a period, and a reason behind them.

Chinatown

A weekend spent learning to build a story rather than collect pictures.

Two days in Soho with Jocelyn Bain Hogg, whose thirty-odd years of documentary work run from organised crime to high society and fashion. The point of the day was not to come home with good single frames but to work an assignment down to a small series of images that hold together, and to learn how much of that depends on staying with a subject rather than passing through it.

Behind the Scenes

A running note on what I am shooting, and what is going wrong.

Dated entries, newest first: work in progress, prints on the wall, the things that do not make it into a finished series.
